Professional Activities

Practicing in franchise and business law, Me Chanel Alepin represents emerging franchisors as well as international franchisors seeking to expand into Canada. She has successfully assisted franchisors in growing their networks across Canada, the United States, and Mexico by drafting and negotiating master franchise agreements, regional development agreements, and franchise agreements.

Passionate about the evolution of franchise law, she enjoys innovating and developing new win-win contractual clauses that adapt to an ever-changing business environment while ensuring long-term viability for all parties.

A proud graduate of the University of Ottawa, where she earned her degree Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, Me Alepin is a lawyer at Alepin Gauthier Avocats Inc., a family firm founded by her parents, Me François Alepin and Me Brigitte Gauthier, in 1978.

Now a partner at the firm, she began her career practicing tax litigation. In recent years, she has followed in her father’s footsteps by focusing on franchise and business law.

During her studies at the University of Ottawa, Me Alepin received several merit-based scholarships and was consistently named to the Dean’s List in recognition of her academic achievements.

Me Chanel Alepin has fulfilled the requirements of the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation and is the first lawyer in Quebec to obtain this title.

A highly sought-after speaker at international franchise conferences, she shares her knowledge on franchise law, cross-border expansion, and best practices. She has been interviewed by various television networks and publications on current issues in the franchise sector and regularly publishes articles on franchise law.
